View Full Version : Front/Rear washers not spraying
2006Vue

Neither the front nor rear washers on my 2006 VUE are spraying. It doesn't seem to be a fuse problem as I didn't see a fuse that was only for the sprayer in the manual.
Any suggestions on a diy fix (parts, how-to, etc..)? I'd hate to pay the $50 for the dealer to fix it.

If it makes a noise when you activate it and the reservoir is full, the pump is working but there is a blockage either to the pump or after it, or a leak in the washer lines after the pump. If it doesn't make any noise, either it's not getting power or the pump is bad.

The tiny filter on the pump clogs up from the blue scum that most washer fluids produce.....
You need to remove bottle, remove the pump and filter.
Then clean out scum from the filter and the bottle.

A "quick" and semi-permanent fix for this is as follows:
(1st) get a wet-dry vac and suck out the washer fluid from the washer fluid tank.
(2) fill the washer fluid tank with HOT water from the tap.
(3) allow a few minutes for the fluid to dissolve the blockage
(4) activate the washer fluid lever to force hot water through the system. Repeat with HOT water as necessary, or until the water flows
out of the washer fluid system.
(5) Re-fill the washer fluid tank with NEW/FRESH washer fluid.
This really worked for me as I did NOT want to pay to have this "repaired" at $85.00 an hour, (something that in my opinion should never fail). A Saturn Tech gave me the "411" on how to do this myself, and 3 months later, its
still working. I'm not that mechanically inclined and have
almost no tools to work with but some common sense and a desire to do it myself. This took me about 45minutes, and I didn't have to replace a pump, tank or fuse. My tank was clogged and I always heard the pump engaging when I pulled on the washer lever, so I knew it was NOT the pump or fuse. You really can't mess it up if you follow the directions as instructed, cause it worked for me. The clearing procedure may have to be repeated at a later time in the future, hence my "semi-permanent" label for this repair.
