I own a 2003 Saturn Vue 4cyl. with AWD. I am getting alot of noise from the rear end and don't think it's the tires. After reading several posts from Vue owners with a similar problem I think it may be the differential fluid. I need to know how to change the fluid. Do you need to support the differential in order to change the fluid ? etc... What kind of fluid? The original Versatrack fluid or the purple fluid people mention in the posts.

Your noise could be due to prop shaft center bearing, wheel bearings, axle shafts joints, or something else.

Changing RDM fluid is not a bad idea and you can either search the forum of use this link. Post # 1 has the goodies.

You realize Versatrak fluid is recommended and might also understand its pricey. Several owners -- me included -- serviced the RDM with Royal Purple Synchromax. This is reasonable priced and I made it through last winter with no AWD issues of any shape, form or fashion.
