View Full Version : Clockspring wiring?
Anyone know how many leads there are in the clockspring? And if any of them are empty? A pin-out or anything like that would be greatly appreciated.

See schematic for 02 Vue at this thread - diagram is part of post #2 - appears there are four contacts - all being used.

I'll find an 04 diagram if you intend to pursue.
Interesting, that means that either the cruise control system, or the clockspring is different in the 06s. That would also mean the CTS wheel would not have the correct pinouts to work. Very interesting indeed...
If it's not too much trouble, see what you can dig up. This might be something that just won't work.

See attached files for 04 Vue - horn, air bag and cruise control circuits - my FSM covers thru 03 - 05 Vue only.
Its good you mentioned cruise control ... there doesn't appear to be a consolidated clock spring schematic so results are spread around various systems.
Do you know if any VUE's between 02 and 05 had "entertainment system" buttons on steering wheel? I've not found but I've only owned one Vue (05).

Don't know if this helps but the parts list calls for a different part # for the 06 clockspring vs the 04-05. Also there is no listing for steering wheel radio control butttons on any Vue before 06. Possibly the only difference in clocksprings is the additional wiring for the radio controls.
Ah.... So then we didn't get lucky, and this project would require a new clockspring. Was hoping they;d be nice to us and give us an un-used contact to run radio controls through, or maybe even a second one for shift paddles. But it appears to be a no-go without swapping the clock spring as well, and then sourcing new connectors for both sides of the clockspring (in the wheel and in the dash).
Curses.
