Anyone recommend a good safe fabric and carpet cleaner they've used in their astra with success? Will be thoroughly cleaning the interior of the Astra soon including all fabrics and then Scotch Guarding it so looking to see what everyone else has used on theirs.

Good question, I'm looking to do the same thing. If anyone could also suggest something to remove salt stains from the carpet, that would be great!

Yeah the salt is the killer. Carpet isnt too bad with it luckily, the rubber mats took the brunt of it and I always knock off my shoes before getting in, but its got the plastic door trims stained up with it.

If I come across anything I'll be sure to post.

Probably the best bet for salt removal is to have the interior steam cleaned. Depending on local car washes, this might be available to you. If not, there are house steam cleaners out there that could work wonders on our carpets. Just my 2 cents.

I am all for steam cleaning as well. My ZR2 used to get terrible dirty inside and steam cleaning always did the trick. It always took me quite awhile to do it b/c of the extent of filth.

I use to use a Mr Clean magic eraser on the black plastic door trim to clean away salt.

I was just in my car using Turtle wax ice interior protection to clean up some of the salt, and there were a few areas that it couldn't get, gona have to try the magic eraser, I know those things work wonders inside, use them at work (a restaurant) and they get the impossibly dirty walls clean without stripping the paint, and they make the best dry erase board erasers too. Have to find something that will get rid of a few grease spots on my passenger side, driving kids home from work, they don't have shoes just for driving home like me so they left some kick spots, thank god I have the rubber mats so that stuff doesn't get into the carpet.

How exactly do you steam clean the interior, I have a steamer at home, use it in the kitchen and bathroom on tile, but have no idea how to use it on upholstery. Also have a carpet cleaner with a hand held nozzle, don't think it works to well on contoured surfaces though.

I also use the turtlewax ice as the interior cleaner but havent used it on salt stains. I'll give the magic eraser a go tomorrow and see what that does. If its successful I'll post some before and after pics

I used this product at walmart called Oxy stain remover or something of that sort. its a green spray can with a yellow cap with a brush attached. Works great and got that mildew smell out of my car. You can also use it in the seats if you spilled something on it.

Havent done a proper cleaning on it yet as the weather has been crap but I quickly took a magic eraser to the door trim salt stains the other day just to see what it would do and WOW I didnt expect it to work like it did. The before and after difference is amazing. Im thinking that will actually work decently well, along with cleaning products to clean off all the salt. Thanks for the recommendation, I wouldnt have thought of it at all since Ive never really used the magic erasers for anything.
