2003 Vue - Steering Noise

When turning the steering wheel it sounds like it's grinding and almost feels like a rubber band is pulling and then pulling back when I turn the steering wheel back. I know it can't be that it needs power steering fluid because it's electric. Any ideas what it could be?

The steering shaft goes through a plastic dust shield under the dash. Most likely it needs to be lubricated so the steering shaft freely turns. Look under the dash and you'll see it.

A plastic/rubber safe grease would be best, like Green Grease.

Ditto on a good grease.

Do not use WD-40. Also, spray lubes with Teflon don't work for the boot.
