I have the plastic Fischer cup holder, I had rtd'd it to the dash on my old Izusu rodeo. It worked the charm.
Unfortunately there are no good locations in the Astra for the plastic one. The metal one seems nice, but I want nothing down by my feet, other than the floor mat.
All that aside, I've grown used to using the Astra's stock cup holder, it's not too bad for an occasional cup of coffee.....not bad at all.
Probably will install the arm rest this spring, that'll give me the forward cup holder as well. We'll see.
Happy new year,
Andrew

Sheesh! How many beverages do you need to drive around with? ;-P
I say get a beer hat like this guy, you'll look sooo attractive in your Astra!

Just FYI, the armrest from Boomerang IS the same one that Saturn dealers are selling in the parts dept. You can order one at the same time you buy your car and it will be covered by the 3 yr Saturn warranty then.

The arm rest looks cool but for those of us with M trans the cup holder would be useless. I've been using the factory cup holder between the seats. It's large enough to hold a 1 liter plastic bottle (my normal drink container). The only down side is it's behind me and I've been forgetting my drink in my car constantly. ;)
the other day I realized that I had two that were in side the rear seat(pop out) of the XR 5dr model...

would the fischer one fit on the passenger side, just to the right of the shifter, on the vertical surface of the console?

No, not at all. Maybe screwed into the side of the console. Nowhere nice, nowhere elegant. (the plastic one)
The metal one would work, but the stock one's location isn't that bad, just takes some getting used too.
