I have a 2003 Vue AWD4 VTi with 6,000 miles on it. At idle @ stoplights it idles rough. It will idle steady for about 20 seconds then miss a beat & stumble. I'm sure it's nothing serious, but it's not something I want to just put up with in a 3-month old new vehicle either. Dealer could not get it fixed.
Secondary problem I'm having is a sound in the rear - it sounds like a slightly rubbing brake shoe. Equipped with ABS. We generally like the car after many years of satisfactory import experiences. I hope these problems aren't a sign of things to come.
We'll have it in for the VTi recall next week & I'd like to give the Techs some hints! Any help would be appreciated.:flag:

I have noticed that VTi's vibrate at a stop when in gear, especially downhill. They also are louder upon startup.. however, it seems that every VUE sounds different on startup.

just remember every "newly built " car line has to have the bugs worked out these are the first months the vue has been out . try asking about the top end tech bulletin i think it has to do with vacuum . the tech has to take off the plastic shield on top of the motor then the magnesium cover on the engine then another part .then they have to put loctite on the screws and tork them down . i know this condition causes an SES light and i have only seen one come in for this but id ask your dealer if that could be a cause .

Techlord, The bulletin you refer to is for V-6 engines. There is a recent vibtration bulletin for the VTI's which came out a few weeks ago. I'll research it on Mon and let you know.

I experience the same issues as Yogi. My AWD VTi with 1,600 miles idles very roughly. I don't notice any performance issues, but maybe I've had a problem from day one. Does anyone have concerns with "torque steer"?? When I step on it, it really pulls to the right. Also, when the AWD kicks in, will a light come on like my sl2 with traction control??

My FWD4 Manual will get away from you under full throttle acceleration from a stop if you aernt careful.. it pulls to the right hard. V6 models do it even worse. As far as the AWD kicking in, no, you will just suddenly feel the tires stop slipping and you will take off to a creamy launch.
