Please read above post for background.:dizzy:

Long story short........ After second ingitions switch was going out I called Saturn 800#. They called dealership to evaluate my problem for free. They did and removed tumblers, cleaned up with emory cloth and cleaned dirt. Worked great for 2 days. Then it failed to a point that it would not turn. AAA towed the vue to the dealership. They ended up putting new switch in for FREE...... YES FREE.........:usa:

Chaulk one up for my local dealer - Saturn of Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA....................

IF YOUR IGNITION SWITCH IS ROUGH OR STICKY, CALL THE 800 NUMBER AND COMPLAIN!!! MAYBE GM IS SOFTENING ON THIS ISSSUE!!!!!!!!!!

Yes this problem is very common on the Vue's. Just a regular search with provide tons of results.

Here is a thread I was involved in: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1080717#post1080717

I had the same porblem a few weeks ago with my ignition cylinder. I removed the upper and lower column covers, and removed the switch from the column. I sprayed it down, inside and out with WD40 and I haven't had any problems with it since then.

We had ours lubed under warranty per the TSB. The problem has not resurfaced.

Great link....... Thanks Warn...... I have saved the TSB for the next time I have to deal with this. Must be they did not get all of the dirt out of it the first time. :D

The point of my post was to get people who ARE haveing a problem or HAVE had the problem to contact the Saturn 800 customer service number to complain. The only way we can get them to redesign and replace ignitions in our cars in some sort of a voluntary recall from GM. :hmm:

GM is so strapped for cash at this juncture I doubt they'd do ANYTHING on a voluntary basis. Based on the VTi fiasco, it would seem that if you want GM to man up on a defect you need to sue them. Sad, but true.

Cheers,

I tend to agree with you, but it is worth a try......................
