We just bought a Vue with 100,500 miles. (2005 manual, FWD)

I am guessing (from reading here) that the 100,000 mile service was not done... ;)

What is usally included in this service... Hubby is a car guy and can do almost anything, so we are thinking we will just go ahead and have him do what is called for... Our last 2 cars each went over 200,000 miles, so I am expecting a lot out of this Vue! And is everything in that service really necessary?

Ritz already told us...

Things I would do:

1. Change the oil and fill it with synthetic Mobil1 oil and a decent (anything but Fram) oil filter.

2. Flush the coolant and refill with fresh DEXcool (or even better G-05 coolant) + 50% distilled water.

3. Flush the brake fluid and replace with Valvoline synthetic DOT4 (which also feeds the clutch slave cylinder).

4. I'd change the plugs if they are still the originals (probably are).

5. It probably also is still on the original struts. The front strut mounts tend to go bad and make noise. I'd replace the struts/shocks on all 4 corners and make SURE the front mounts are replaced).

6. Change the air filter and cabin air filter.

Things to watch out for:

1. The sway bar end links in the front tend to go by now. Might want to look at those.

2. The rear brakes tend to get ignored since people don't want to deal with changing the shoes on drum brakes. Check 'em and make sure they are adjusted properly.

3. The OEM tires (Bridgestone Dueler) are absolutely horrid. If the tires are worn, make sure you pick another tire for replacements.

Ritz is leading you in the right direction, and yes, all of the items on the list are needed. At your mileage, I would also replace the serpentine drive belt.

Ditto on the serpentine belt. I just had mine replaced at my 100K service. The belt really looked bad for the wear.
