I have a bearing noise starting in the front of my 06 4 cyl. Vue. No ABS. Will an ABS hub work on my NON-ABS Vue?
I have 88000 miles on the Vue. Is this an average life of these hubs?
Has anyone attempted to press out the bearings and replace in stead of replacing the entire hub? VERY EXPENSIVE..........
Yes, an ABS hub will work for a non-ABS VUE
No, you do NOT want to even THINK about tearing a bearing assembly apart to fix it!

There is no "average life" - they can fail as early as 15,000 or never.
The part is not that expensive - $115 from RockAuto.com The labor can be serious. Typically $500-600 parts/labor at a shop.

I just got a Timken ABS hub for $102.50(?) plus shipping from RockAuto.com.
Maybe the prices are coming down due to the volume of demand? :xeye:
Placed a large order of parts and everything arrived intact.
They have Wix cabin filters for around $15 or so. I added 3 before the cost of shipping started to go up.
Timken is a respectable brand for bearings. They also offer BCA/National.
Currently;
Timken front ABS $102.79
Timken front NON-ABS $87.79
Anybody with experience with any particular brand (other than OEM)?

I've had both front CV joints replaced (not at the same time). One cost about $375 at the dealership. A year later a local mechanic charge $425 for the other.
Both repairs involved replacing the whole assembly.

Is the front wheel hub assembly swap something that requires special tools, or is it something anyone can do with a good set of sockets and wrenches? Specifically, I have no fancy presses (other than a bench vise), but I do have sockets up to something like 28 mm and get most anything else... I haven't ever read through the procedure, so I'm not sure what all is involved. Thanks.

Purchased hubs from Rock Auto. Mine are non-abs. Hope to put in on Friday on buddy's lift. He has the socket that I do not have to do the job. And the airtools backed up by 200 psi. My compressor would not touch that spline nut.
