Can the 05 Vue ECM be changed/modified? Specifically remove the 100 MPH rev limiter? Is it a GM or Honda ECM programming?

I did a search and found all the ECM posts but I am still not clear if there is anyone that does custom tuning for the 3.5L V6? Is there? It didn't appear so but want to know of anything has changed lately.

Nutshell: No.

It theoretically can be done but nobody has had it done yet and no companies are wanting to spend the money to develop a program/tune for it.

From what I've been told the ECU itself is a Motorola unit, similar to the one in the 2.2L Cobalts. as I see it, the only ways to get it done are 1) Plead to a company to do it for you and pay out the ass(I figure for a few thousand they'd do a one-off for you) or 2) Make nice with a saturn tech and i'd imagine they can adjust that part of the ECU.

The 05+ Redline ECU is limited to 120, as opposed to 100, so swapping the ECU is an option, but theoretically you should be ale to program it to change the top speed. My other thought is to find out who can adjust the speedometer for different wheel/tire sizes on the Vue. If they can get into that portion of the ECU, they can probably access the top speed limiter.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll see what I can find out at the tire/performance shop.

I had emailed JET a while back, they basiclly said that their tuning doesn't affect the limiter, or the torque lockout. Just A/F ratios and such.

Wow...just wow. Trying to go over 100mph in a top heavy, rollover-prone SUV. Looking forward to seeing that entry in the Darwin awards.

Your kidding right? I'm talking flat, straight line. Not taking corners or anything at those speeds. I guess I shouldn't tell you that I had my old 89 supercharged Chev P/U to 125 MPH. LOL! Felt perfectly fine. Now the 60's Thunderchicken that I had to drive at my buddies wedding when he got married was a whole other story. Talk about a land yaught! Would body roll if you changed seating positions while driving. LOL!

Don't worry about Ritz, he gets condescending about everything.

People seriously underestimate the stability of the Vue. There's SUVs that are way more top-heavy and such than the Vue that do 100+ easily. The RL's are about as planted as you can get in an SUV.

Now as far as the basic Vues go, I wouldn't advise it without some stiffer springs, and some better rubber. The regular Vues I've driven just don't feel anything like my RL at all.

I just found this thread. I'm interested in ECM Tuning for my 2003 Vue - 3.0 L. Anyone know if that is doable? My interest related to installing a Hydrogen generator. The benefits of hydrogen are not realized unless you can lean the Air Fuel mixture. I'm just looking at different options there.

Thanks!

true the stability is pretty good and the steering seems good also
I was doing about 100 on this main street late at nightwhen only my friend was driving on the road so i was comming up on him in the other lane and he cuts me off and i had no trouble at all cranking the wheel to get into the right llane at about 95 if not 100. It was actually fairly smooth at steering felt extremely tight. I have gotten my car up to 117
