02 Vue Serivce Wrench light

We have a 2002 vue v6 awd that the service light with the wrench ( not the ses light) comes on intermitently. took it to the delaer and they pulled code U0100 and u1098 they said it will need a steering column. i serached the net and found that neither code pertans to the steering. Maybe i am wrong but i wou.ld hate to spend $900 and find out the light still comes on. any help would be great thanks.

not sure if your code numbers are correct but if they are recommending a column it is most likely for the electric power steering the motor and control module are part of the assembly
