After we go back from vacation I have noticed that my 2004 Vue is making a creaking noise while turning...my first guess was the CV joints but don't those make more of a clicking noise? Seems to be louder turning to the right...doesn't do it 100% of the time but 70% would be fair to say...about 127K on the Vue

Front end has always been noisy but this is sure a different noise...if not CV joints what else could it be? And if CV joints ballpark figure to fix? Should the CV joints be toast this early though??

Someone else mention front sway bar links?? If so is that something I can DIY?

Hey Msgt from N.H.(I grew up in NH).Anyway the creek is most likely from the swaybar links reach in and see if they will twist back and forth without binding

I'd bet on swaybarlinks... Very easy DIY, Turn the steering all the way to the left or right an look in behind the tire. The link bolts to the strut at the top and the bar at the bottom. Remove the two nuts and they come right off. If they are not frozen you will need to hold the bolt still while you turn the nut by either using an allen wrench in the tip of the bolt of finding the flats on the back side. I can do mine sitting in the driveway but it's easier with the wheel off. I'd take one off and drive around. No noise = swaybar link or bushing. Then you just need to figure out which side. The end of the link should move freely with no binding. The last link I replaced I bought the replacement from Autozone for $31.00, with a lifetime warranty. I've put a few thousand miles on it and have had no problems.

Hi, new to the forum and glad it is here!

I have a 2003 4cyl manual FWD Vue that has recently went over the 100k mark. I am getting a sound when making a left turn from the passenger side front wheel area that resembles the creaking of an old wooden ship. Would you say this is similar to the sound you hear Blue Goose? I'm eager to check the sway bar links in the morning...

That is exactly the comment my stepson made...said it sounded like we were on an old Pirate ship lol

Thanks for the comments guys...looks like I'll take a trip to the Zone and pick up the parts
