I am about to change the timing belt on the Vue....I am fairly certain this should be done by a Saturn Tech and not on my own...Any thoughts? Also, if letting a Saturn Tech perform this opeartion, should I ask around to make sure these techs have actually done this before on a vehicle like mine and had good results? I am a little worried about getting a new hire, fresh out of tech school, or flunkie doing his/her first timing belt on my Vue....

I think that a Saturn dealer would do this job correctly. I know that I couldn't. You could politely ask the service adviser if their techs have experience doing this procedure. They will probably say yes. If anything happens as a result of a botched repair, you do have a warranty through the dealer so I wouldn't worry.

Or try a Honda dealer.

This has been discussed in the past and the price to get the job done is all over the map. I've heard as high as $1,000+ and as low as $350. One thing is for sure, when you get the belt replaced, the water pump is right there and needs to be done too. Try searching to see if you can find the past posts.;)

I would suggest any independent Honda shop, they should be able to do it with ease. The price there should be better than at the Saturn dealership.

That engine is actually manufactured by Honda. Also used in the Pilot, Odyssey,
and other Honda models.

It's a Honda engine.

The V6 engine and transmission in 04-07 VUEs are made by Honda. It's the same powertrain as in the Odysey, Pilot, and MDX.
