Hello. I am not very techy so my apologies in advance if I don't explain this right.

I was chaniging the oil on my 2006 Saturn Vue today and noticed that the bottom of the roundish engine casing to the front of where you drain the oil had what looks like a 3 by 1 inch rectangle opening into my engine casing where I could see a big flywheel with gear teeth on it.

It looks like there should be some kind of rectangular plug there that isn't. Does this make sense? I can't explain it any better and I have searched EVERYWHERE for information on this. I am afraid this is the manual transmission fluid plug that might have fallen out and I have no transmission fluid?

I would appreciate any help on this!

Don't worry about it. All manual transmissions have a clutch inspection plate on the bell housing. Maybe yours fell out or was never there. Ask the service manager about it next time you go to Saturn. The gear teeth on the flywheel are what the starter motor engages to crank the engine.

Wow, thanks so much! I am so relieved it isn't something more serious! :)
