There's an old thread listing the procedures as well as the procedures are clear on pag 286 of the 2007 Vue manual. I've been towing my saturn with my motorhome for about 11,000 miles over the past year.
I follow these procedures and think they are simple. However, I've had a new problem come up twice since Thankgiving while towing with my motorhome. I'm very careful during towing and follow the procedures. I'm also conservative when performing the lubrication procedure every seven hours (I do it for 5 minute not 3, and no later than 6 hours not 7). I also don't think I've ever gone over 65 mph (at that rate of speed my MH gas gauge will pretty much drain to E quickly). I usually travel about 55 ot 60 mph.
After towing when I use the car, the engine trouble light comes on (and stays on) and the left blinker won't work. I had the engine light checked at an AutoZone (for free) and the code is P0705 (Transaxle range switch fault).
The first time this happened, it went off by itself a day later. This second time, it's staying on (now for over a week).
The Troubleshooting printout from autozone noted 2 probably causes: 1. Failed transmission range sensor and 2. Open or short circuit condition
Does the 2nd mean a burnt fuse?
Any ideas on the cause of this and the solution? I bought my Saturn specifically to dinghy tow.
Best New Year wishes,
Scott
