All,

Yesterday my 2004 vue would no longer shift into 2-4-R. In DC rush hour traffic I drove the car to the dealer using 1-3-5. The dealer called today and said ~$325 to replace the "cable adjuster" (~$50 part, remainder labor). After receiving this information I searched SaturnFan forums and found this:

Is the "cable adjuster" the same as the "retainer clip"? Is my price estimate consistent with what others have experienced?

Any info/experience you can provide is appreciated!

High labour cost for just replacing the adjuster. 2-2.5 hours labour would be closer to what a shifter cable replacment would be. The adjuster can be replaced front the top of the center console without having to remove the console.
