Ok so I have the new glass, but I can't get the old one out on my 03. I have moved the mirror as far as I can in all directions an pulled fairly hard to try to get the base loose with no luck. The mirror moves up and down more freely now hopefully it didn't break:hmpf: Any suggestions??

TIA
Dave

The plastic base that the mirror attaches to can not be removed (without breaking the center pivot) without first removing the broken glass.

Once the glass is removed, you will see 3 holes that give you access to the three motor screws that need to be removed in order to remove the motor, pivot and plastic base as one unit.

The best way to soften the glue that holds the glass to the base is with a heat gun or hair dryer.

Yeah If i had known to break the glass out I'd have been ok. Once I did that it popped right apart. Now I have a broken base to go along with a cracked (now intentionally shattered) mirror. Oh well I'm going to try to repair it but I'm not holding my breath.... If nothing else E-bay here I come.

Glass is back in and the motorbase is toast. I reapired the guts of the base to no avail. I ended up using foam tape that I had saved from my spoiler install to "support" the mirror so It wont move when I close the door. If i had only known to break the glass to remove it I think the base would have survived.:( Oh well at some point I'll probabally try to find a whole housing but for now I have a mirror that "works"
