03 shift points

is there a way to reset the transmision shift points on a 03 vue v6? I don't every 20,000 miles the transmission will start red line the engine on up shifts. I don't think I should have to take it in every time it does that.

Can you better explain what's happening? The high shift points on the early V6 are to take advantage of the high RPM power curve of the twin-cam 4-valve L81 engine. However, your complaint seems to be about RPM 'flares' between gears which has been somewhat of a problem. Once I learned most of them do it, I stopped worrying about it. Mine will both go to the redline on full-throttle acceleration before shifting. We don't get flares at full throttle, just mid-throttle shifts from 3 to 4 once in a while, and the RPM do not go anywhere near the redline.

it does not flare if i take it to the dealer and have them "update" it at $50. I think this is something that should not cost that to be taken care of. its the programing of the computer to self adjust or something.
