I have a 2003 Vue V6, AWD and Automatic. I've heard there are guides out there that explai how to do it where the service lights blinks in a certain number of times and once you get the number you can look it up. Someone please help

You're right...on pre 1996 GM vehicles with the OBD1, you used to be able to find out what code your car was throwing with a paper clip. You connected 2 spots on the ALDL (plug where you'd plug in a scanner, under the dash on the drivers side) with a paper clip and then turn on the ignition. I think for Chryslers there was also a way to do it involving turning the ignition on and off in a certain pattern, but don't quote me on that...Then the check engine light would blink out a code which you could compare to a chart to see what it was trying to tell you. Funny enough, auto parts stores used to sell a "special code reader key" that had 2 pointed ends which you could also use - for about 5 bucks :hmpf:
On vehicles built after 1996 (OBD2) it doesn't work...its a much more sophisticated system which requires a scanner to read. There are lots of scanners out there from cheap to very expensive...also, many auto parts stores will read the codes for you for free. If you do a search here for "scanner" I'm sure you'll find out what everyone uses/prefers.

The service (wrench) light is not the same as the service engine soon light.
It is not able to be diagnosed by anything but a tech-2... call your local dealer,
