I have a 2002 4cyl. 88k miles. Wouldn't start the other day. I got it started, but it was rough with ses flashing. Drove it home about 3 miles. Looked on the forum. Replaced the icm and plugs. Not sure how to tell if the spark plug boots are seated properly with this crazy setup. Start it up now and it seems to run fine, but the ses light is still on constantly? Is there a way to reset it? Will it go out eventually, or could this be indicating that I damaged the cat even though it runs fine? I am assuming that the mis-fire condition was fixed since it is no longer flashing, which I guess wold also indicate that I got the boots seated fine??? Too bad I'm over 80k in case it is the cat... Will one of the at home code readers indicate what is wrong? Any advice is appreciated

If all the problems truly went away, it will reset itself after a certain amount of time and/or starts. Someone else here may know that answer to how long or how many. Flashing means misfire is happening NOW. Since it is on solid now, you are no longer misfiring. It may be just the misfire code that was stored, or it may be more. You should get the codes read. If you post the codes here, someone will tell you what they mean and give advice. These forums are really good for that.
If you are NOT in California, you can go to Autozone and they will read your codes (and reset the light) for free. You probably have a P0300 (random misfire) code, but there could be more and it could point you to something else you missed. In CA they can't read it (by law), but I think you can still buy the scanner and do it yourself.

Yeah, I'm in Delaware. I'll swing by an Autozone and see what comes up. Thanks.

Well, after what I believe was the 4th start up or so, and a 12 mile drive or so the ses light went off and has stayed off, so hopefully everything is good now, it seems to be running well. Didn't end up costing much so I guess I shouldn't be to upset, only $57 for the ICM and another 16 for the plugs. Might be worth buying a spare and carrying it around in the glove box to prevent getting stranded incase it happens again since it seems to be a fairly common occurance ;)
