A while back I started having some wierdness with the blower motor in my 02 v6 and I haven't found anything that quite describes the problem.

It began as an intermittent problem. The blower would not cut on any speed until the car had been driven for a while. Sometimes it worked fine. The issue had become more and more frequent until now it has been some time since it worked at all.

I began to troubleshoot. Cleaned the switch to no avail. Checked the resistor but it doesnb't fit with a bad resistor sionce when it does work all speeds are available, at least after a while. But high doesn't work any more often then the other speeds.

Took the blower out and hooked it up to a battery directly...worked fine. Hooked it up ion my SW1 (ran wires from the sw connector and it worked fine.

Disconnected the switch connector and manually jumped the circuit...also did this on the resistor connectoer for all speeds...nothing.

The wierd, when I check via multimeter at the blower connection I get like 10 volts with the car on or off. Take the resistor out and I get the voltage only with the ignition on and switch on high as I should but the blower still doesn't work.

No other wierd issues to make me expect a bad BCM or anything. The regulator on my drivers window started acting up a bit around the same time, but it seems to be the common regulator issue.

I am stumped. Anyone seen this before? I don't have any battery drain issues and everything else is good.

Appears to be in the orange wire from the underhood fuse block to the blower. If I run a wire from the battery to this connector on the blower and connect everything else as designed it works as designed.

Now I pulled back the underhood fuse block to look at the possibility of running a new wire. Don't think that'll fly. Also looks like there is a 40 pin connector in the mix. Is that at the BCM? I can't locate it.

I had a similar problem on a '88 Camry. Motor worked fine. Resistors checked out.

I put in another set of resistors (from a junker). It didn't help.

The problem was the fan (squirrel cage) was binding in the housing. I cleaned the whole assembly and it worked fine.

However, your low voltage is a problem. Seems it should be above 12V if you have it set on high.

If you run a wire straight from the battery to the motor (and ground the return) will the motor run at high speed OK?

This would tell you if the motor and blower housing is OK.

Hopefully, someone with knowledge on the fan wiring (and the BCM) can address the low voltage problem.

According to the schematic, the orange wire from the blower goes to a 40 amp fuse in the fuseblock, so it should have 12 volts on it at all times. FYI, there's supposed to be a connector in the orange wire halfway between the blower and the fuseblock - that might be loose or dirty.

The pin on the 40 pin body/ip connector in the drivers side kick panel had loosened and shorted. went around the connector and it's fine except I can't find the fan control knob. Always something.
