Saturn Vue Turn Signals And Stopped Working

I have a 2002 Vue and the blinkers and hazards just stopped working. I've checked the fuses and bulbs and they are fine. One shop said they would have to tear the steering coloum apart and replace a part and one shop said it was probable a defective hazard control. Any one have an idea or a quick fix?

Good chance that the hazard switch is the problem. It is the flasher for the signals and the hazards.
