After three days of troubleshooting and working with my web host's tech support folks, I was finally able to fix the corrupted message board database and get it back online. In the process, I became intimately familiar with the mysql website... :dizzy: I learned a lot more about databases than I ever hoped to know, but then what are weekends for?

From what I've been able to gather, my web host loaded new system software on their servers which reduced the number of databases I'm allowed to run on the saturnfans domain. This caused one of the tables within the message board SQL database to become corrupt. To make a very long story a little shorter, I finally figured out how to repair the damaged tables about an hour ago. Now that I've fixed the tables and restored the database, everything seems to be working again (hopefully...).

I'll be watching the boards to make sure things are running smoothly for the next few hours (its too late for me to go to sleep now). If you notice any problems, please email me at core@mail.saturnfans.com. I just returned home after being away for a long time on extended business travel; I'm glad that this didn't happened while I was away.

I wanted to thank everyone for their patience while I worked through this problem over the past three days. I apologize for the inconvenience. The message board changes and updates that were scheduled to be online this weekend will not be posted until later this week or early next week. I want to make sure the forums are stable before I introduce more change.

Welcome back! :redjump:

No need to appologize. We who were having fun while you were working on this problem are the ones who need to thank you for your effort.

Just like some Saturns, not all of us can be perfect all the time.

But like the "real" Saturn service, you have given us the "Saturn" treatment, meaning . . . . . EXCELLENT!!

What will us Saturnites do without you, Charlie?

Just glad to hear it's back online. I was considering holding prayer vigils. ANYWAY thanks for getting it back up. You do a great job with the whole site, message boards, etc.

Thanks Charlie for the message board and news items ...

although, all of our employers are not very happy with the site. Thousands of dollars in productivity are lost each day because of you. j/k :p

damned datageeks.

Hey hey hey careful now, there are many geeks among this Saturnfans population, myself included :D

although, all of our employers are not very happy with the site. Thousands of dollars in productivity are lost each day because of you. j/k

I'm guilty of this one too--many of my idle hours at work are spent surfing this site. Where would we all be without it? This has got to be one of the most civilized boards on the net--cheers to Charlie for keeping it that way.

We appreciate all your hard work!

Thanks for the kind words -- and for all your support. This site wouldn't be what it is today without you all. Keep visitin', keep postin', and keep sendin' me your feedback!

L300Boy - I'll try to include a lost productivity calendar in the next version of the board.

Saturnalia withdrawal can be a real pain in the, well, you know. Now that Saturnfans message boards are up and running again, all is forgiven. :D In all seriousness, the work you do is greatly appreciated, so keep it up Charlie! :grnjump:
