I went to start my '06 2.2l vue this afternoon and while engaging starter, the motor stopped spinning. It almost felt like someone had completely disconnected the battery cable or the motor had seized. It initially started to spin the motor as normal and then just completely died before the car started.
I turned the key back to off and removed, then tried starting again. This time it started right up. The kicker is that the gages were all dead. The fuel gage read about 1/4 tank while I know the tank is almost full. Tach and speed were dead. Idiot shift indicator was working though. Radio was fine as well. Car also ran perfectly as far as I could tell. No check engine light either. After driving this way for a few minutes, I shut it off and restarted and everything is working as normal again.
Just wandering what it could be. My first thought was BCM. Any other thoughts? This is the first time its happened so I suspect it might get worse if its computer related.
