Replaced timing chain/rod bearings/flushed engine w/sea foam....knocking nose still on passenger side under acceleration, not while ideling. Quite while engine is cold..increases once it hits operating temp. New to DOHC ..Can I run engine w/cover off??? Any other suggestions?? Thanks

Perhaps crankshaft suffered damage when the engine was low on oil, did you measure the rod and main bearing clearances with plastigage when the oil pan was off?

No, unfortunately we did not take time to measure. Just physically inspected, but knock is not a constant...more like a fluterring, not a steady that i have encountered before with rod bearings.....nothing at idle, and if you increase rpms slowly, not nearly as pronounced.....and with cold engine, not really any noise for probably 5 minutes or running.....

When you increase RPM on warm engine you can feel tapping on cam cover.
