Not a good idea to bypass the primary safety devices in your VUE... The explosive devices, air bags, are secondary and can harm you if you are not properly belted in place.

There are two stories on the news that never fail to make me sigh in disbelief: people that drown and die in a river or lake because they refuse to put on life preservers, and people that die in vehicle accidents because they refuse to put on their seatbelts. I can't think of any good reason to bypass the seatbelt chimes. They're there for a reason: a simple audible reminder to put on your seatbelt.

Mine doesn't chime.,.,wish it would though.,gonna look into it. I always forget to put it on (although I always make sure my kids are buckled in.,you would think I'd remember.,lol) We rented a Subaru recently with the chime and it was a perfect reminder for me.
