Hi everyone,
My car is 2003 Saturn VUE 4cylinders manual 5speeds. I want to install air fuel ratio gauge to monitor oxygen sensor and gas milage. My oxygen sensor has 4 wires which is white, brown, purple, black. Does anyone know which one is signal ? Please respond my post to show me. Thankx

I believe the air/fuel gage will come with it's own sensor that must be mounted in the exhaust, per the instructions. Attaching or connecting to the factory sensor could cause problems. Follow the instructions that come with the air/fuel gauge.

But some vendor , they try to make some special gauge come with their own sensor. So they can make money on its.
If you really want to monitor air/fuel accurately, you'll need a dedicated gauge and O2 Sensor unit. This is called a wideband O2 sensor.

Some vendor build air/fuel ratio gauge is compatible with factory sensor which is it just pick up the signal from sensor and convert analog to digital signal to monitor by 10LED with voltage from 0.2 to 0.8(v). This's little bit cheaper and you buy from any auto part stores. But some vendor , they try to make some special gauge come with their own sensor. So they can make money on its.
I got instruction but it told me connect a signal wire of the gauge to signal wire of oxygen sensor but between connector and computer. So, I don't know which one is signal wire. I don't have Saturn VUE service manual. That's big problems. So, I still need help. Anyone who know, please shoot me a post in this forum. Thank a lot.

You are absolutely right. But mostly gauge work with narrow band. You make me rethink that factory oxygen sensor of VUE is wide band. Because I did connect to all four wires but the gauge didn't work. I know very sure that I hook all wires up correction and no short. So maybe that my gauge didn't work with wide band oxygen sensor. Anyone who is professionel, please help me out. Is that 2003 Saturn VUE manual 5speed carry only wide band oxygen sensor?
Thankx

If you have a narrow band gauge, only one of the 4 wires on the sensor will connect to your gauge. Any other wires on the gauge are likely just for illumination, and gauge power.
Someone with a service manual might be able to help you out on which wire on the O2 sensor to connect to however.
