Just got my gold Vue with the FWD/M-5 combination and power package/sunroof 9 days ago. Starting Sunday (three days ago), I've had an intermittent problem on startup that sounds like gears grinding in the transaxle when the clutch is fully depressed. It makes this sound at every gear change, but only when the pedal is pushed clear to the floor; then, when I turn off the engine and restart, the problem is gone. This happened twice Sunday and Monday, once yesterday, and once already today; the episode yesterday was followed on the restart by failure of the radio and turn signals to function, which corrected itself after another restart. I can't find any pattern or combination of things to stimulate this behavior. Has anyone had this problem, or have any ideas? I just turned 500 miles yesterday and absolutely love it except for the ghosts in the machine.

Thanks, everyone.

Many VUEs come to life on startup with a rumble, and a decently hard shake from the engine.. complete with a slight grinding (?) noise. Mine will do it occasionally, but many of them do it consistently.... hmm, I don't know what to say about the radio and turn signals, except that the BCM has somewhat of a link to the radio, and maybe the turn signals are linked through the BCM too (I know the wipers are).. I would have it checked out personally.

Our Vue transmission makes a metallic rumbling noise at low RPM usually in first gear. It was explained to me as a harmless but annoying resonance in the Getrag 5-speed. Not really a problem with Saturn, but the transmission - the Cavalier/Sunfire/Alero/Grand Am is also said to have it. I'll have the dealer look at mine tomorrow.

Hmm, I know the L car manual is a Getraig.. but is the manual tranny in the VUE a Getraig. Mine was built in Italy... I always assumed that Getraig is German.

The L-series manual is the SAAB 5-speed. Different from the Vue 5-speed.
