Airbag light stays on

My daughter has a 2006 Vue. The Airbag light came on and stays on. The manual says car should be serviced immediately. Any ideas as to what can cause this? Car has never been hit and just had 12,000 mile service last week. Thank you.

probably a problem with the passenger air bag system.

Shouldn't there be a warranty on an '06? It may be better to have Saturn service the problem before attempting repairs on your own since it is a safety issue and integrated with the electronics unless you can find the simple things like a loose/disconnected harness or blown airbag fuse. Anything more complex than that and having a vehicle warranty shoud be Saturn's responsibility. After warranty the car's all yours to experiment with in the hopes of saving $$$ if you can DIY.

By any chance is my motherinlaw seated in her front passenger seat? ....just kidding!

Yes she should have this repaired ASAP (major safty system). If the airbag indicator stays on after the vehicle is first started the airbag system is disabled and the airbags will not deploy even in a major accident!

lots of things but you could turn the wheel hard left and hard right slowley...it might be the coil(clockspring) or fussy sensor..dont mess around with this its got a warrenty please get it fixed
