Do you like the appearance of the new 2008 VUE?
Let's try to keep a thread like this civil for once.
Personally, I like it the same as the pre-MCE VUE v1.0 ('02-'05).

Do you like the appearance of the new 2008 VUE?
You should have questioned the interior and exterior as two different polls....
I am not a fan of the exterior (saw it in person)...but I have warmed up to the interior....
Mind you, they keep showing me pictures of the 'top of the line' model....
Civil thread? I kinda like it when people's passion spills over and the blood start to flow....LOL

I'm liking it more and more all the time. I think it looks better than the second gen already. The Redline doesn't look as touch as the old one did though, it looks kinda cartoonish. And the black plastic bumpers on this one look much better than the first gen models.

After seeing that picture you attached Silven, I am kind of warming up to it. I like the concept version (for 2010 or 2011, don't remember which yr) from gminsidenews.com, but I still like it.

I saw one up close today here in Montreal. To me it looks like a larger Toyota Matrix. The inside looks very nice, the outside I am mixed about. The back looks great, the front looks busy. The XE 4 cyl silver model I saw looked very plain. Silver does little for the vehicle. Navy blue on the other hand looks sharp. Overall, not bad but I still think GM could have done alot better style wise.

I actually like it. I didn't when I first saw the pictures of it, but I when I first drove one and saw it in person 3 months ago it started to grow on me. I like the front and side, but not so crazy about the sloping rear roof look. I like the shifter and wiper knobs (that little rubber boot thingy is neat, don't know why, but I like it).

Reserving further judgment until I have seen one in person. So far only pics and vids.
No promises. :D

I own the 2007 Vue GL and like the exterior styling...it's different than most other models which is nice. It's well built, basic and not flashy, which is to me in line with what Saturn's brand has meant to it's owners.
From what I've seen I like the new styling as well. I probably prefer it overall as it seems a bit racier that the current one. I reserve my final judgement until I see it as well. If the interior styling is better then that is overdue because I think the current Vue looks basic verging on cheap inside. With the 2007 GL you had to get the basic package and couldn't get any of the enhanced trim so my main reservation with the current car is the interior.
From what I've read, GM is moving the Saturn brand a bit more up market and to more of a European styling. That won't resonnate with some of the long-time Saturn devotees, so I can see why some people get upset. I'm new to the brand (I was attracted to the brand based on the hybrid) and actually like European styling so I welcome the change. I'm considering a getting the two-mode Vue GL at some point if I like the styling and can purchase it reasonably...

From the photos I have seen they are using lines and other design features similar to some of the newer products produced by other brands. If they are making correct assumptions about what designs will appear contemporary and stylish over the next couple of years they are making the right move. I have always believed that new car design is similar to clothing fashions in that it is more important to have buyers believe a design is acceptable and appropriate for the times than it is to have them love it at first sight.

I saw one the other day. I like the exterior much better than the current Vue. I didn't like the fake side vents and I thought I would from the pics. They were all plastic and looked really cheap. The interior is really nice for this type of vehicle. One thing I don't like that they seem to do on a lot of vehicles is use too many colors on the interior.
It was a base XE, around $21,XXX, not bad.

Even though the 08 Vue is a much cleaner design,
I am also finding it more generic, and not
as destinctive as the 07.
Ultimately I'd still like to own an 07 over an 08.
Amen! I am glad I have an '06 V6 and love the drivetrain combo as well as the fuel economy that comes with it! The '08 is not a vehicle that raises the bar for Saturn. It looks ok, the interior is a step up but the drivetrains are a disappointment. Low fuel economy is the nail in the coffin for me, they could have done alot better than this!

It seems to me that many people here are bashing the looks of the new VUE, but the poll results clearly show otherwise. With the good reviews it's been getting, it will sell very well.

Well said.
A nice design, and a well laid-out interior, but much less distinctive than the previous model. I'd still prefer an '07, but that's not to say the '08 isn't a nice design.

Exactly. That's the latest design trend (and it wasn't started by Saturn). People are even buying fake vents to stick on their cars, in fact.

Return of the famed Buick ventiports! :p
I see those on EVERYTHING! in Detroit. Any old beat up pile of crap has 20" wheels and 3 or 4 Buick venti-ports on the front fenders. And Buick has put them on all of their own things too. I like 'em...on Buicks.

To be honest folks, I am not wildly impressed with the looks of the 08. I just bought an 07 (0% financing was decisive factor) and traded my Vue 06. The dealer had an 08 sitting on the lot and it reminded me of at least 4 other brands that have a very similar model (Kia, Nissan, VW, Lexus etc.). It's like the designers are just copying what the others are putting on the market. I agree with other posters that the polymer panels are a huge plus over metal sheet panels. No rust, more durable and stronger (no dents!). Plus the fact that the side mirrors on the 08 look like Shrek's ears and therefore silly. Glad I was able to pick up one of the last "real" Vues! I bought the V6 AWD in Black Onyx (see pic) with Comfort Package, Chrome Package, Assist Steps, Brush Guard, Advanced Audio, Leather Package and Sunroof,......nice!

Finally saw one in person, there is a definite Korean influence to the overall design. I asked about one and was told they were "hiding in the back", one of the guys from the service department grabbed a set of keys and we went back to look at one, unfortunately none of the cars were opening as he pointed the fob at each of them. But that's ok, I can now say I have seen one (four of them actually) in person. They definitely look smaller. And they appear to be lower to the ground as well.
BTW those fake vents do have some function, there is a light in the center that illuminates with the turning signals.

Saw my first one on the road yesterday. Yikes! Tommy-no-likey! In pictures, it didn't look that bad, but in person I didn't go for it at all.
But I also didn't like the 2nd gen VUEs at first either and they started to grow on me, so who knows what this one will do.

Saw one for the first time on display at the Oshawa Centre and I certainly liked the style a lot better than the old Vue's. It really looks cool. I wasn't able to sit inside so I am not sure how comfortable it is. I found the 07 Vue a bit cramped and I am not a big person.

BP, is this your scientific poll studying and hoping you might for more in agreement with you? You seem excited with your "findings". The NEW Vue is a great looking vehicle. It is NOT a quirky box. So to some it might be an uncomfortable change. A more modern design if you will. Something in line with 21st century thoughtful vehicle design rather than the 90s squared off clumsy squashed appearance the clinger-ons prefer.
Good luck in you mining efforts.

This is only one example, so it really means nothing, but I'd thought I'd share.
A few days ago we had a customer who was comparing the VUE with the Rav4 (like usual), they looked at 07 and 08 (heard about it online, never been to Saturn before). Liked 08. Like it's looks and drive better than Rav (and 07 VUE). They were told there was no special financing or rebates on the 08, but there was up to $2,000 on the 07s.
They bought the 08. They claimed they liked the look, feel (as in how it the interior "felt"), and drive better than 07.
Anywway, that was my first 08 VUE sale. Thought I'd share. Go me :cake:

I appreciate the enthusiasm you both have for your preferred generation Vues, but there's no need to "throw mud" every chance you get. Whatever is going on here needs to stop. Bashing either generation Vue and/or each other will not be tolerated and is in violation of this forum's rules.

Congrats on your first 08 Vue sale Saturn Planet. I first came on this site when the AUra came out as I was interested in purchasing one but I have decided to wait a year or two before buying a new vechicle. However, I now have a dilemma after seeing the new Vue's. I really like the design. I did get a chance to drive an 07 Vue for a couple of days and it was a new experience for me driving an SUV and it felt pretty good. I can only imagine how better the 08's are.

From the pictures only, I wasn't too enthralled with the new exterior design, although I definitely liked the interior, now seeing it in person, and sitting next to an Equinox, it is a nice looking vehicle, looks better than the Equinox IMO, of course in Red Line form I think it looks even better IMO, I really like the interior and how they simplified the styling, I really dislike busy interiors, like the Opel Antara's version!
When you look at the photo of the dash in this link, it's so clean, simple and easy!
