Well, guess building the Vue in Mexico wasn't such a good thing after all. It was already announced that no sunroof would be available until later in the model year, but now it also turns out that Leather won't be available as well, since production of the leather trim had to be halted because of problems with the leather seating and the passenger sensing system. Also, some XR vue's wont have the chrome door handles, as some of them were accidentally made with body colored door handles. Also, good luck getting your hands of the convenience package!

Leather has been released with production beginning the first week of June. In fact the supplier is going provide additional leather seat capacity to catch up to demand. The chrome handles is a quality issue. Not because some were made incorrectly. Doubt if Mexico assembly has much to do with any of the constraints, though.

Junie - are you an insider? I made the assumption you were just a Sat fan who thinks the new Vue is the next best thing since sliced bread.....however, you seem to know what is going on with the new Vue...hmmm....;)
An insider isn't a bad thing....:)
Nice to know what is going on....Are you getting paid to pump the new Vue?

I never thought for a moment junie was just a Saturn fan... It wouldn't surprise me if she was Jill Lajdziak, General Manager of Saturn.

Of course, I should be sticking to the topic, but after re-reading Junie's posts he/she claims to be an engineer of sorts...he/she's writing skills are odd...one minute lucid, the next full of punctuation and grammar mistakes...almost get the sense he/she is trying to throw us off....:ugh:
Anyway, it's all fun. :D

Actually, I take that as a compliment. Thank you.

Doesn't require being an insider, you just need to know how to find the accurate reliable info. As you know, you will occasionally find misleading information or reviews on various internet forums. Me, an engineer? No, and I don't believe I had ever made such a claim....but there again are those pesky misleading forum posted inaccuracies. As well as for instance these types of characterizations… “..someone who made outrageous ranting positive claims about any vehicle”.

There are always some compromises at launch. No one knows far enough in advance what the owners of all 400+ Saturn retailers think are going to sell so there is always a shortage of something, something else came from a supplier as less than perfect and some stuff is just put on hold so everything else can run smoothly.

Convenience package is a supplier restriction, they don't have enough parts. How many times did this happen on the SKY? LOTS! We had transmission constraints, wheel constraints, leather constraints, etc.

I was personally wondering why all of the pre-production VUE XRs had painted doorhandles when chrome was standard. Well, I guess the chrome handle supplier didn't get it right, so try again! We were warned that painted handles on XRs were NOT a production mistake.
Chrome beltline molding was supposed to be on the 2005 (?) VUE but very few were made that way. I can no longer remember the exact reason but I'm sure it was either supplier or quality related.

I wouldn't be so quick to blame everything on Mexico manufacturing. Just because the labor is cheaper, doesn't mean the quality is subpar.

I agree. I remember seeing a Relay, which was built in the U.S., at the Saturn retailer that was missing the Saturn badge on one side.
There are more stories of mess-ups like that that I've heard.

junie, if you do to Saturn what Karl Rove has done to this country, I'll be soon looking for another brand. :D

I understand this is not the time nor place for any political commentary. But would you care to expand upon your thought? Or just spew an ill-informed drive-by bumper sticker blurb? And for any of the faint hearted sensitive types I am not the one that originally spawned the K. Rove connection here. Though I do consider it a honor. Just looking for signs of intelligence.

You are correct that this isn't the time or place. Also if you follow the politics board on this site you'll find I have absented myself from that too as I am tired of the vicious polarization that threatens to ruin this country and for which I hold Rove accountable in a major way. In my professional life I have worked equally well with Republicans and Democrats including conservatives here in PA such as Pat Toomey and Rick Santorum. I simply prefer politicians who are principled and gentlemanly to ideological hacks who purposely divide rather than try to unite.

In the 70's a friend of mine had a new Chrysler Town and Country SW with a Dodge steering wheel. The factory put the wrong brand steering wheel on the car.
