General Motors recently demonstrated its progress on developing a future advanced engine technology for consumers that squeezes more miles per gallon of gas and reduces emissions. GM engineers have brought the advanced combustion technology from the laboratory to the test track and, now, to the highway in a driveable concept vehicle - a Saturn Aura equipped with homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI).

Over at GM's Fast Lane blog yesterday, Saturn general manager Jill Lajdziak wrote about the three vehicles Saturn introduced at the 2008 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS): the 2009 Vue Green Line 2 Mode Hybrid, the Vue Plug-In Hybrid, and the Flextreme concept.

Saturn Flextreme Concept Highlights

According to General Motors, the Flextreme previews new elements of Saturn and Opel design language, including more sculpted surfacing molding, clear style elements such as narrow, boomerang-shaped lights and a sloping feature line in the side graphics. The vehicle also marks the return of a popular Saturn feature from the past: quad coupe doors.
