Thank You for Supporting the "Save Saturn" Petition, Please Keep Spreading the Word!

We're less than one week into the SaturnFans.com "Save Saturn" petition, and I'm very happy with the results thus far.  The response to the petition has greatly exceeded my expectations.  I had originally hoped that we'd have 500 signatures to send to Saturn by the end of the week, but with your help we were able to collect nearly... 4000 names after only four days!

Even the media has taken notice.

Over the past couple days, the petition has been featured on CNN, Motor Trend, Auto Blog, and Automotive Addicts to name a few.  Thanks to everyone who has been spreading the word! I think its important for everyone at Saturn and GM to at least know there are thousands of owners and enthusiasts who want General Motors to keep Saturn.

  • Within the first two days of being posted, the petition was the most viewed story on SaturnFans.com this year (even before the CNN story was published on Wednesday)
  • The "Save Saturn" petition page will likely end the year as the most popular story on SaturnFans.com in 2008
  • At one point on Wednesday, the CNN Saturn story was the second most e-mailed article on the site and the fifth most read article
  • Other automakers have been visiting SaturnFans.com and spending more time than usual in the forums
  • Jill Lajdziak, Mark LaNeve, and the entire Saturn team are aware of your efforts and appreciate all of the support

But unfortunately, after the $14 billion auto rescue package collapsed in the Senate Thursday night, the fate of both General Motors and Saturn is now more uncertain than ever. GM needs to stay in business if Saturn is to stay intact. So more work needs to be done. If you haven't already done so, sign the petition and tell a friend about the campaign.

Also, please continue to contact your representatives in Washington - including President Bush - to express your support for aid for the auto industry. You can:

  • Email Congress by way of the GM Facts and Fiction website
  • Send a message to President Bush at comments@whitehouse.gov

Thanks for your continued support!

General Motors to Commemorate Launch of Chevrolet Traverse at Spring Hill Plant

It's still strange for me to hear, read, or think about Saturn's former plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee building a non-Saturn product, but with the Lambda-based Chevy Traverse already shipping from the factory, I guess it's time for me to stop nostalgically living in the past.
