Mark Phelan from the Detroit Free Press: After a 2009 auto show plagued by automaker defections and overshadowed by economic despair, 2010 looks brighter for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. At the least, the number of automakers exhibiting should be about the same as in 2009, organizers said. "Every space on the main floor is full," a marked departure from the gaps that dotted Cobo's display space this year because of the disappearance of brands including Nissan, Infiniti, Mitsubishi and Suzuki, show chairman Doug Fox said in an interview at the Frankfurt auto show. For the first time, Saturn will have an exhibit separate from General Motors, which is selling the brand to entrepreneur Roger Penske.
