New TV Commercial: Saturn is Still Here

Saturn has begun airing a new television spot assuring owners and consumers that the brand is still in business. The 30 second commercial features Saturn Franchise Operations Team (FOT) member and retail store owner, Todd Ingersoll.

It's good to see Saturn go on the offensive and let folks know that, despite what some rumors and news reports suggest, the brand is not dead. Hopefully as details begin to emerge about the company's attempt to spin itself off from General Motors, we'll see more ads from Saturn like this.

Here's the text from the spot:

In this economy, everyone is questioning everything. Not a day goes by that someone doesn't ask me, "what's going on with Saturn?" Let me tell you what's going on with Saturn. We're still here. In the last few years, we've introduced five new models - not small changes here, I'm talking about five brand new cars. Not to mention, two of the most affordable hybrids on the road. Saturn's a car company that was founded on doing things differently. And more importantly, its the way we still are.

My apologies for the slightly out-of-sync audio. I'm working to fix the problem.

The Astra's insides are well built and well trimmed if a bit austere, with lots of black, grey and silver plastic. You can tell the Astra wasn't designed in the US; it's a little shy on cupholders and there's no MP3 player input jack for the stereo. Still, as compact cars go it's marginally cheerier than the VW Rabbit's cabin, though not nearly as stylish as the Nissan Sentra or Honda Civic.
