A Letter from Jill Lajdziak to Saturn Owners Regarding GM’s Decision to Shutdown the Brand

Of all the letters I have written this past year, this one is the most difficult. I want to begin by thanking all of you for your support over this last year. Your loyalty to Saturn motivated my team to work very hard to try to find a way for this brand to continue. The many e-mails, calls and personal notes provided the inspiration to all of us at Saturn. By now I'm sure you have heard that the sale of Saturn to the Penske Automotive Group could not be finalized. As a result, the Saturn brand will now be phased out over time.

This is not what all of us here at Saturn and General Motors had hoped for.

Nearly two decades ago, Saturn entered the automotive marketplace and revolutionized the car buying and ownership experience with a simple philosophy, to treat individuals the way they deserved to be treated—with respect. Over the years, this approach toward customer service has become a hallmark of the brand. During this transitional period, we know there may be concerns about your vehicle's warranty coverage and the service of your Saturn going forward. I want to assure you that the expressed written warranty on your new Saturn remains unchanged and will be fully honored by General Motors. In addition, if you purchased a Saturn Service Plan vehicle service contract on your Saturn vehicle, coverage under the agreement remains unchanged and will be fully honored in accordance with the terms of the agreement. General Motors will determine the most effective way to meet your service needs through its extensive Dealer network. In the interim, Saturn owners should continue to visit their Saturn retailer for service or contact the customer center at 1-800-553-6000 for more information.
