A lot of 6 1/2" speakers are now being made to fit our 6 3/4" openings. Look for the open screw pegs on the outside of 6 1/2" speakers. The newer Infinity and JBL (there may be others too) 6 1/2" speakers will fit directly into 6 3/4" openings as they are and include hardware to make them fit the smaller 6.5" openings but you wouldn't use that. Also, if you buy speakers from www.Crutchfield.com they send you free adapter brackets to make any 6 1/2" speakers fit your 6 3/4" holes.
