Looking for:

Hello, I have a 99 SC2 with a broken INTAKE valve spring. I was hoping that someone might have one good spring from a bad head they don't use.
I also found the timing chain guide (non tensioner side) broken in three pieces, but the chain is within spec. Thanks!

How can you tell the difference between the intake and exhaust springs? I just gutted a cracked head. Is the chain guide you need interchangeable from a 97? If so I have them both.

Hi Sl2clone,
Thanks for responding, I'm sorry its been so long since I checked the forum. I don't know if there is a difference between the intake vs exhaust valve spring and I haven't found any threads discussing it. They look the same. I have roller rocker cams and I think the older design was direct acting, so I don't know if the springs are different in the 98'-older vs 99'-newer? Same goes with the timing chain guide. Mine is plastic, but I have seen both metal and plastic in catalogs. Anyhow, if they are not much, why not buy them and compare against what I have. My zip is 40517, what are you looking to get for them?
Thanks! - swilldad

Still no luck. I really appreciate sl2clones's and Low Saturns's help, but I was informed that only 1999-2002 valve springs will work, which no one has.

After a little haggling with the dealership, I finally got them to believe that yes, I needed a valve spring and yes, they can actually order customers something like that. They just wouldn't belive that a valve spring broke and I didn't feel like being questioned repeatedly, so I thought I would post the request up here. I'm supposed to pick up the spring tomorrow.
