Owner Story: Saturn Vue Rollover Crash with Pictures

I was involved in a crash on June 11th with my 2004 Saturn Vue. The car in front of me was slowing down to stop and I slowed down to stop. Unfortunately, the car behind me slammed into me at approximately 50-55 mph. As I was thrust forward, I must have clipped the back passenger corner of the car in front of me, which flipped me over and rolled the Vue three times. A car going in the opposite direction also hit me at one point. I came to rest upright. Of course, I only remember slowing down and feeling the impact of the car hitting me from behind. I was wearing a seat belt and my air bags did deploy. All my windows were blown out (except for the sunroof), every exterior panel of the car is damaged. My door was bent inwards, but I survived with only black and blue marks on my left side and stiff, sore muscles.

I didn't like some of my Saturn's quirks - like the rumble strip noise - but I think my Saturn Vue might have saved my life. I just wanted to share my photos to show how my Vue faired in a rollover crash.

The Saturn of 2008 is not quite what Roger Smith, a former GM chairman, had in mind when he launched the brand in 1985 with the promise of "a different kind of company, a different kind of car." GM initially hoped to encourage fresh thinking at its newest brand by giving Saturn more autonomy than such GM stalwarts as Chevrolet, Buick and Cadillac.
