April 2008 Sales Figures

While Saturn's overall sales were down 15.5% to 16,888 units last month, sales of the brand's Aura midsize sedan and Vue sport-utility saw healthy increases from a year-over-year perspective.

Sales of the Aura were up 29% with more than 5500 sedans sold. Year-to-date, Aura sales are up almost 24% with 21,961 copies sold. The all-new compact Astra also had a good month, showing its fourth consecutive month of increasing sales with more than 900 vehicles sold. Unfortunately, the 909 Astras sold couldn't do much to offset the 4,191 Ions that were purchased during the same time last year. In the Astra's defense, its only been on sale for since January and production is still ramping up. Sky roadster sales were off nearly 25% to 843 units.

On the truck site, the Saturn Vue stole the spotlight with a total sales increase of about 600 vehicles – representing an 8.5% boost – compared with April 2007. A total of 7,148 Vues were purchased last month. Outlook sales totaled 2,379 in April, down 34% from April 2007. Year-to-date, however, Outlook sales are up 3.3% to 8,929 units.

Interestingly enough, 18 Saturn Relay minivans were also sold last month. The Relay went out of production in December 2006.
