Flashback Friday: the Last 2009 Saturn Sky

For this week's installment of Flashback Friday, we only have to look back a little more than three months to this past spring. The date was Wednesday, May 20th, 2009 to be exact. On that day, GM's Boxwood Assembly Plant in Wilmington, DE built the last Saturn Sky. It was a 2009 base model with a polar white exterior and tan top (pictured above). The roadster's VIN ended with the numbers 8015, and it was shipped to Rockford, IL. The plant permanently closed at the end of July.

You can view more photos of the last '09 Saturn Sky inside the Wilmington plant online in the SaturnFans.com Photo Gallery.

Opel Corsa Design Sketch

The headline of an article in the Los Angeles Times two days ago read like many other articles published in newspapers and blogs all over the Web this week: "GM may pull plug on Saturn." But if you read the whole story written by Ken Bensinger, the article painted a much more optimistic picture for Saturn - one that's been overshadowed by the drama on Capitol Hill and the countless reports that speculate Saturn's days are numbered.
