Rumor Mill: Progress Being Made on Saturn Spin-Off, Sources Say We Will be "Excited"

Tags: hears that progress is being made in Saturn's attempt to spin itself off from General Motors. The customer-friendly brand is reportedly moving quickly to determine a viable, long-term business plan for the future - and to return to its roots as a "different kind of car company." While nothing official has been released by the company, word on the street is that the things are moving forward. That's encouraging. Sources have told that we'll be "excited" about the plan being pursued. That's even more encouraging.

Separately, Saturn spokesman Steve Janissee talked to the Post-Crescent newspaper last week and gave them an update on the situation. "Things are looking good right now," he said. "Saturn has a number of unique attributes that could make the spin-off a realistic alternative." General manager, Jill Lajdziak added that "we're working very close with our retail partners to build a plan that works to secure Saturn's future... most importantly, our customers should know we're still here."

Whatever is in the works, we should know something that's officially official sometime in the second half of April. While some of the rumors I've heard include the dates in which Saturn might make an announcement, the dates are unconfirmed and very speculative at this point. So for now, we'll just have to look forward to the latter part of next month to find out what Saturn and its retailers have in store.
