With a several General Motors recalls underway - especially ones for the Saturn Ion, Outlook, and Sky - I've received emails from quite a few folks who are concerned that their vehicles might be impacted. If you haven't received a letter in the mail from GM and you are worried, General Motors has set up an online database that's searchable by VIN.

Mike Morrissey, from the Saturn Communications Team equated Saturns to the popular advertising character, the Energizer Bunny, in a blog written on ImSaturn.com yesterday. Why you may ask? Saturn discovered through a research study conducted by R.L. Polk that 83% of all of the Saturns ever sold in the United States are still actively registered. You may remember that nearly two weeks ago Saturn celebrated the sale of their 4 millionth vehicle in Traverse City, Michigan: a black three door Astra. Of those 4 million vehicles, 3.3 million of them are still in use.

Saturn retail sales rose 9% in June, thanks in part to a special zero-percent financing sale that the brand offered during the last week of the month. However, overall sales for the month of June were down 12.8% compared to last year due to the sales gap created by the discontinued Ion sedan and quad coupe.

While Saturn's overall sales were down 15.5% to 16,888 units last month, sales of the brand's Aura midsize sedan and Vue sport-utility saw healthy increases from a year-over-year perspective.

2007 was a good year for Saturn. The brand completed the first phase of its product revitalization with the launch of the 2008 Saturn Astra, leaving the Sky roadster as the oldest model in its lineup.

Continuous improvement has always been a hallmark of Saturn, and for the 2006 model year things are no different. Automotive News reported earlier this year that Saturn informed retailers at the North American Dealer Association's (NADA) annual convention that both the Ion and Vue will be "refreshed" for 2006 to help make them more competitive and appealing.
