ThunderSport Racing's Ion Red Line Wins at Daytona

Thundersport Racing's Ion Red Line congratulates Mike Kramer and the folks at ThunderSport Racing on their win at the SCCA Daytona Classic last week. "This was just a great weekend for us, the car was stout from start to finish and there's no other experience I can think of that compares to being on top of Daytona's high-banks in a racecar," beamed Kramer.

The #42 Saturn Ion Red Line rolled off the trailer for the Sports Car Club of America's (SCCA) Daytona Classic last weekend and won from the front, earning the ThunderSport Racing team's first victory of the 2008 season. During Saturday's sun-soaked qualifying session, Mike Kramer pressed his Kumho-tire sponsored machine to a fast lap of just over 91 miles per hour around Daytona's world-famous oval/road course. When the checkered flag fell on Sunday's 40-minute sprint, the #42 Saturn Red Line streaked across the start/finish stripe claiming the Touring 3 (T3) class win and Kramer's 42nd career victory.

NY Times: GM Had Considered Selling Saturn Earlier this Fall, May Now Buy Out Saturn Retailers

Bill Vlasic from the New York Times reported yesterday that GM is exploring the idea of "a significant shrinking of its North American operations, including shutting more factories and streamlining its sprawling brand lineup, according to people with knowledge of GM's deliberations. One move under discussion, for example, would have GM buy out dealers that exclusively sell Saturns and market the cars through its Buick-Pontiac-GMC dealers instead."
