Saturn to Bring Back Innovative 'Quad Coupe' Doors

A couple of days ago General Motors' Opel brand unveiled a new hybrid concept – called the Flextreme – at the 2007 International Motor Show in Frankfurt. Multiple sources who reported from the show wrote that Saturn is expected to unveil a near-identical version of this concept at either the upcoming Los Angeles or Detroit auto shows.

Opel's Flextreme concept car, which made its premiere earlier this week at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, boasts the body of a dynamic monocab, as well as the completely new environmentally friendly E-Flex electric propulsion concept and a host of innovative details.

Electric Driving with E-Flex

General Motors unveiled its third variant of its electric vehicle architecture E-Flex, the Opel Flextreme, earlier this week. Its energy source is a battery that powers the electric motor. Another energy source on board – such as a hydrogen fuel-cell or combustion engine – provides more power to increase operating range.

E-Flex Opel May Preview Upcoming Saturn Concept

Automotive News reports that General Motors' European Opel brand will unveil a new diesel-powered electric concept vehicle at the Frankfurt Auto Show next week. The magazine also says the futuristic Opel Vectra will also provide a preview of a similar diesel-powered Saturn Aura that's expected to be showcased at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this winter.
