If you missed your chance to buy a new Saturn before the "GM Employee Pricing" promotion that ended last month, the Detroit News reports that you have another week or so to take advantage of special vehicle pricing. This time, though, there's a catch. Customers will only be offered the discount who are in possession of a coupon authorization code provided by a GM employee.

Saturn has updated it's corporate website with the brand's 2009 model year information. Visitors are welcomed by an updated home page animation that encourage folks to "meet" their favorite Saturn model. You can build your own 2009 Saturn and take advantage of enhanced shopping and financing tools.

The first 2009 Saturn brochures are beginning to show up at retail facilities around the country. This year's book features glossy pages with sharp, vivid color photos. FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) paper was used and, according to Saturn, that means "a minimum of 30% post-consumer recovered fiber" is used in the creation of the paper. In addition, the company says the "electricity used in the manufacturing process is generated from renewable resources."

Michel Deslauriers from Canada's Auto123.com drove the Saturn Astra and walked away impressed. "After almost 20 years, Saturn is now offering a very interesting line of vehicles," he concluded at the end of his review. "Why did it take so long?" He thought that his Astra test car was "blessed with a terrific chassis," and that it's "steering is precise and direct, which makes the Astra fun to drive."

Astra is Gaining Momentum in the Market

Gregory J. Wilcox, columnist from the San Bernardino Sun, recently talked to Saturn spokesman Steve Janisse about the car's sales performance since its launch this past January. The Astra's sales started out around 500 per month, but rose to almost 2000 units last month. "It definitely did get off to a slow start," Janisse told Wilcox. "It's been pretty fun to watch it take off."

Tirekicker Reviews the Saturn Astra XR

Michael Hagerty is the self-proclaimed "Tirekicker," and he recently took at look at the Saturn 3- and 5-door Saturn Astra XR. "They both feel like they're carved out of solid blocks of steel," he wrote. "GM deserves to be rewarded for leaving well enough alone with the Astra."
