That's a Saturn: Astra Spotted on Set During the Filming of 'Transformers' Sequel

2008 Saturn Astra XR 5-Door

A couple of "spy" photos taken recently during the filming of 'Transformers 2' in Philadelphia indicate that Saturn's Astra will be featured in the movie alongside other GM vehicle superstars like the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro, Hummer HX, and Saab Aero-X. The Transformers Live fan site says that two photos of a "silver Saturn with bullet holes" surfaced online earlier this week. The pictures seem to show the Astra as part of an elaborate "chase scene" that's set in the city.

So is the Saturn Astra an Autobot?

"The details of the scene are unknown," writes TL. "Could that car be a new Transformer? A stunt car? An escape vehicle? Why bullet holes?" In a separate article, Jalopnik responds by saying that "right now our best guess tells us it's more likely an 'extra.' The clues are the bullet holes which tend to indicate human interaction with the vehicle rather than robotic — that would show up, we'd assume, as laser or 'plasma' burns."
