"General Motors hopes to dodge the weak dollar that inflated the price of the current Saturn Astra compact with the next-generation model," said trade magazine. The Mexican plant is a virtually brand new GM manufacturing complex, as it "was dedicated on July 30, 2008," according to an entry in Wikipedia. The plant currently builds the Chevrolet Aveo.
