NYIAS Recap: 2008 Vue Red Line

If you live in the New York metropolitan area, I strongly encourage you to hop into your Saturn and drive over to the Jacob Javits Convention Center this week. On display, you'll find the completely revitalized Saturn lineup. The oldest model on hand is the Saturn Sky roadster. I just got back from my trip to NYC last week, and I'm in the process of formating and uploading all of my photos.

Watch the Astra Unveiling

It was unveiled earlier this month at the Chicago Auto Show, but if you weren't there to see it in person, now is your chance. Enjoy the video below of the media debut of the 2008 Saturn Astra 3- and 5-door hatchbacks. Both models replace this existing Ion sedan and quad coupe. They will be available at Saturn stores later this year.

Chicago Auto Show Debuts Confirmed

General Motors and Saturn have confirmed plans to introduce the all-new 2008 Saturn Astra, along with the 2008 Vue Red Line and Vue Green Line hybrid at the Chicago Auto Show next week. The Astra marks the fifth all-new vehicle in Saturn's lineup, and is the last step in a complete reinvention of the brand's showroom in less than 20 months.

In addition to the previously documented unveiling of the 2008 Astra – Saturn's Ion small car replacement – the company will also reportedly take the wraps off its next-generation Vue Red Line model.

More and more information is trickling in about Saturn's plans for the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) next month. While Saturn has not officially announced whether or not it will have any debuts at the show, rumors suggest that Saturn will have three, yes three, never-before-seen vehicles on display.

Production-Spec Aura Set for NY Debut

Sources tell SaturnFans.com that the production version of Saturn's all-new 2007 Aura won't make a surprise debut next week at the Chicago Auto Show as widely speculated, but at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) in April instead. The confusion largely stemmed from a message posted on the Chicago Auto Show web site that said the Aura was to make its debut there.

Red Line Sky to Pack 260 Horsepower

An alert SaturnFans.com visitor sent me an interesting tidbit of information with a published link to boot. The LA Auto Show website has revealed the horsepower and torque specifications for the Pontiac Solstice GXP roadster that is set to debut at that show in about a week.

Flashback Friday: 1,000,000th Saturn

On June 1, 1995 Saturn built its millionth car at its Spring Hill, Tennessee manufacturing facility. The model was a dark green SC2 with a tan leather interior. The car is pictured above with former Saturn President Richard G. "Skip" LaFauve and VP Donald W. Hudler just in front of "Inspiration Point" at the end of the assembly line.
